Education Video Services FAQs

BOOKING & PLANNING

Choosing the right video partner matters. Schools need more than a camera crew — they need a team that understands safeguarding, respects the rhythm of the school day, and knows how to tell a story that genuinely resonates with families.

This page brings together the questions we hear most often from headteachers, marketing leads, admissions teams and Trust leaders. It covers everything from booking and preparation to filming, safeguarding, editing and how to get the most value from your video.

If you have a question that isn’t covered here, just ask. We’re always happy to help.

BOOKING & PLANNING

How do we book Northern Education Videos?

Booking is straightforward — simply get in touch via our contact form or call us on 07498 946 584 and we’ll schedule a quick discovery call to understand your goals. This conversation helps us identify your priorities, the type of video that will create the most impact, and the best approach for your school. Once you’re ready to move forward, we confirm dates and guide you through the next steps. Schools often tell us the clarity of our process is one of the reasons they choose us.

How far ahead should we book?

We recommend booking 6-12 weeks in advance, particularly during peak periods such as early autumn and summer term. High-demand months fill up quickly as schools align filming with admissions campaigns, open evenings and website refreshes. Early booking ensures we can secure your preferred date and dedicate the right amount of planning time to your project. If you need faster availability, we’ll always do our best to accommodate.

Is the consultation free?

Yes — every project begins with a free, no-pressure discovery call. This ensures you receive clear, expert guidance before committing to anything. We use this time to understand your story, audience and objectives so we can recommend a strategy that delivers the strongest impact for your school. It’s the easiest way to ensure your video project starts on the right foundation.

What happens once we confirm a booking?

Once your date is secured, we create a clear production plan tailored to your school. This includes timelines, preparation guides, key messaging advice and everything needed for a smooth filming day. We take responsibility for planning the creative direction while keeping the process simple for your team. By the time we arrive, every detail has been thought through.

Can you hold a filming date while we finalise the details?

Yes — we can provisionally reserve a date while we refine your brief and confirm your requirements. This is especially useful during busy periods when availability is limited. Holding a date ensures you don’t lose your preferred slot while internal school approvals are taking place. Once you’re ready, we convert the reservation into a confirmed booking.

Do you work nationwide?

Absolutely. We work with primary schools, secondary schools, SEND settings and MATs across the UK. Our experience filming in diverse educational environments means we adapt quickly to different settings, safeguarding processes and logistical requirements. Whether you’re a single school or a multi-academy trust, we can scale our approach to fit your needs.

What information do you need before the project starts?

We require basic information such as your goals, target audience, key messages and any safeguarding restrictions. From there, we handle the creative and logistical planning so you don’t have to. Schools appreciate that our preparation reduces stress, streamlines communication and ensures a highly efficient filming day. The clearer the brief, the stronger the final video.

Can you help us decide which type of video we need?

Yes — most schools come to us unsure of exactly what they want, and that’s completely normal. We’ll discuss your objectives (e.g., boosting admissions, improving reputation, or enhancing online engagement) and recommend the most effective video format. Our recommendations are based on years of experience creating high-performing content for schools. You’ll always receive advice that’s practical, strategic and grounded in real results.

Do you require a deposit?

A deposit is not required to secure your filming date. I trust schools to honour their booking, and this approach keeps the process simple. Your project is confirmed once the date is agreed, and I begin planning straight away. Payment is only made once all videos are delivered, giving you clarity and confidence from the start.

Can we reschedule our filming date?

We understand schools sometimes need flexibility due to events, weather or unforeseen changes. We allow rescheduling with reasonable notice and will work with you to find an alternative date wherever possible. Our goal is always to support your school, not cause disruption. If weather may impact outdoor filming, we also provide contingency planning.

Do you work with multi-school or MAT-wide projects?

Yes — we regularly produce coordinated video campaigns for multi-academy trusts. This can include trust-wide promotional films, individual school profiles, or content designed for leadership recruitment. MAT projects benefit from consistent branding, unified storytelling and cost efficiencies. We help trusts communicate a strong, coherent identity across all their schools.

How long does the whole process take from filming to delivery?

From filming to delivery, most projects take around two weeks for the first proof. During busy periods this may take a little longer, but we always keep you updated. You’ll receive a proof video with a visible timecode, so you can note any points where you’d like changes or shots removed. Once we receive your feedback, we aim to send an updated proof within 48 hours.

The videos and photography Adam filmed and edited together beautifully captured the essence of our school and what we precisely wanted to promote. Adam was brilliant in supporting what we wanted to achieve, and feedback from our community, especially those who are new to our school, has been very positive. For many new families, this first introduction enticed them into exploring the school further by attending our open day events or requesting to see the school individually. Overall, from first enquiry to finished product, working with Adam was an easy and fulfilling experience for us all.

PRE-PRODUCTION

What happens during pre-production?

Pre-production is where we shape the creative direction, refine your key messages and build a detailed schedule that fits smoothly around the school day. This stage ensures we understand your ethos, audience and priorities so the final video feels authentic and purposeful. Strong pre-production reduces disruption, increases efficiency and guarantees we capture the right footage first time. It’s the foundation that makes school video projects run seamlessly.

Do you help with scripting and interview guidance?

Most schools prefer music driven videos however if we can produce interview based videos.  In this case we provide interview questions, talking points and narrative guidance that help staff and students sound natural, confident and engaging. Our approach avoids robotic scripts and instead focuses on genuine, emotionally meaningful communication that resonates with families. We know how to bring out the best voices in your school while keeping things simple and stress-free. With clear guidance, even the most camera-shy speakers feel prepared.

How involved do we need to be in planning?

We handle the bulk of the planning so your team doesn’t feel overwhelmed. You only need to provide key information such as schedules, safeguarding details and any core messages you want included. Schools appreciate that our structured process keeps their workload light while still ensuring the film aligns perfectly with their goals. You remain in control without carrying the burden of production logistics.

Can you visit the school before filming?

Yes however this depends on your location. Most times we don’t need to visit the school as we can do this first thing when we arrive.

What should we prepare ahead of filming day?

We provide a clear preparation guide covering schedules, student involvement, staff interviews, safeguarding arrangements and location readiness. Preparing these elements ahead of time ensures a calm, well-organised filming day with minimal disruption to learning. Our guidance is designed to be simple and practical, even for busy school teams. When preparation is done well, the filming day feels smooth and effortless.

How do you develop the story or narrative?

We start by understanding your school’s values, strengths, personality and what makes your community unique. Using this, we build a narrative that’s emotionally engaging, visually compelling and aligned with your strategic goals. Whether your focus is admissions, reputation, or celebrating achievements, the narrative will always be purposeful and tailored. Our storytelling approach ensures every scene contributes to a clear and meaningful message.

Who coordinates the schedule on the day?

We like the schools to create the filming schedule and manage the flow throughout the day, ensuring everything runs to time. Your only role is to help us access the right classes, staff or locations when needed. Schools find this approach reassuring because it removes guesswork and prevents filming from feeling rushed or chaotic. This organisation is one of the key reasons our filming days run so efficiently.

Can you help us choose which staff or students to feature?

We advise on selecting individuals who best represent your school’s culture, values and diversity. Our goal is to ensure the video feels genuine and inclusive, showcasing real voices that families connect with. The right contributors can elevate a video from good to exceptional.

Will you review our website or prospectus beforehand?

Yes — reviewing your existing materials helps us understand your messaging, tone of voice, values and visual identity. This allows us to align the video perfectly with the rest of your marketing and communications. Consistency is key to strong brand storytelling, and this step helps ensure the final film reinforces your school’s identity. It also allows us to identify gaps where video can improve clarity or emotional connection.

How do you adapt the plan if the weather changes?

We always build a weather contingency into the schedule, especially for outdoor activities or drone footage. If the weather turns, we seamlessly pivot to indoor scenes without affecting the overall narrative. Our experience working in unpredictable British weather means we’re quick to adapt without compromising quality. Once conditions improve, we can return to outdoor sequences if time allows.

Working with Adam at Northern Education Videos was an absolute pleasure and a seamless experience. He was great with the children and was flexible to our needs. The video was produced very quickly and to a high standard. We have had so many lovely comments about the outcome; it portrays our school perfectly. I would highly recommend Northern Education Videos to anyone who had a clear vision that they want to share!

FILMING

How long does filming usually take?

Most school video projects can be completed within a single full day of filming, although larger productions or multi-video packages may require additional days. We structure the day efficiently around your timetable to reduce disruption and capture the strongest footage at the right times. Our experience in school environments means we know when to film lessons, enrichment, and quieter moments for interviews. This balance ensures high-quality content without impacting teaching and learning.

How many crew members will be on site?

Adam Chetter handles all filming personally. This keeps the footprint in school low and avoids disruption in classrooms or corridors. Adam works with professional cameras, audio equipment, and stabilisers, while keeping movements quiet and unobtrusive. Schools value this approach because it delivers strong, polished results without bringing a full crew into the building.

Will filming disrupt lessons?

Disruption is minimal because our approach is designed around how schools actually function. We move quietly through lessons, position ourselves carefully, and avoid interrupting teaching unless absolutely essential. Teachers often report that students remain focused and engaged, even with cameras present. Our goal is to blend in — not to dominate the space.

Do you film during live school hours?

Yes — filming during real school hours helps us capture the authentic energy and atmosphere of your setting. Real interactions between students and staff always create more powerful footage than staged scenes. We coordinate closely with your team to ensure the filming schedule supports the natural rhythm of the day. Authenticity is one of the key reasons our videos resonate so strongly with families.

Can you film during assemblies or events?

Absolutely. Assemblies, performances, sports activities and special events often showcase the spirit of the school better than anything else. We discreetly capture these moments in a way that preserves the experience for those present while still delivering visually engaging footage. These scenes often become some of the most memorable parts of the final film.

How do you make students feel comfortable on camera?

We take a calm, friendly and child-centred approach that helps students relax instantly. Many children forget the camera is even there because we work at their pace and keep interactions light and easy. When needed, we offer simple on-the-spot guidance to help them speak clearly and confidently. The result is natural footage that truly reflects your students’ personalities.

Can staff record lines using a prompt or cueing system?

Yes — we can support staff with prompts, guided questions or subtle cueing to help them stay on message without feeling scripted. This method ensures they sound confident, genuine and aligned with your school’s key messages. Our interview style is intentionally conversational so staff feel relaxed rather than rehearsed. This leads to stronger delivery and more relatable storytelling.

Do you provide lighting and audio equipment?

All lighting, sound and stabilisation equipment is included as part of the production. We use professional-grade tools to achieve clear, crisp audio and flattering, well-balanced lighting in classrooms and indoor spaces. Proper audio capture is especially important for interviews, so we always use high-quality microphones. This technical quality is a key factor in creating a polished, professional film.

What clothing or colours should people avoid when being filmed?

We typically recommend avoiding bright neon colours, bold patterns, and clothing with large logos as they can distract on camera. Solid, neutral or school-uniform-friendly colours tend to work best and help maintain a consistent visual style. That said, we always prioritise authenticity, so students and staff should feel comfortable and true to themselves. A quick reminder beforehand is usually all that’s needed.

How do you work around safeguarding and restricted access areas?

We coordinate directly with your safeguarding lead to understand any restricted zones, confidentiality requirements or student permissions. Our filming routes are planned carefully to avoid sensitive areas while still capturing strong footage elsewhere. This ensures complete compliance without sacrificing creativity or story quality. Safeguarding always comes before filming.

Can we request specific shots or subjects on the day?

Yes — if something important occurs or you want to highlight a particular area, we’re more than happy to accommodate. Our schedule is structured but flexible, allowing us to adapt to unexpected opportunities. Schools often appreciate that we capture spontaneous moments they didn’t know they wanted. Collaboration on the day ensures the final film feels truly representative.

What if a student becomes camera-shy?

We never pressure students who feel uncomfortable. Instead, we gently redirect, find alternative contributors, or use more observational footage that doesn’t require speaking. Our priority is always the wellbeing and comfort of the child. This approach ensures a respectful filming experience while still gathering rich, authentic content.

How do you capture natural, authentic footage?

We prioritise real moments — students interacting, learning, exploring, laughing, and engaging with staff. Our filming style focuses on movement, candid expressions and genuine experiences rather than staged performances. We blend into the environment so students behave naturally, allowing us to capture the true atmosphere of your school. Authenticity is the hallmark of our work.

What happens if it rains?

We always prepare a weather-proof backup plan, including indoor locations that still offer strong visual opportunities. If outdoor scenes are essential, we adapt the schedule to film them later in the day when conditions improve. Our flexible approach ensures the quality of your film is never compromised. British weather is unpredictable — but our planning isn’t.

Can you film drone footage?

Yes — we offer safe, legally compliant drone filming where appropriate. Drone footage can provide stunning, cinematic views of your school site, especially for large campuses or MATs. All drone operations follow strict safety, weather and airspace regulations. If conditions aren’t suitable on the day, we reschedule the aerial component for a safer time.

It was a really positive experience working with you. You were easy to communicate with, open to ideas, and made the whole process feel relaxed and well-organised. You listened to what we wanted and made sure the video reflected our school in a genuine and engaging way.

We’ve definitely seen more interest since the video went out. We’ve had more enquiries and visits from families, and a few have even mentioned the video as one of the reasons they wanted to find out more about us. It’s been a really useful way to show what we’re all about.

SAFEGUARDING & CHILD PROTECTION

Are your team members DBS-checked?

Yes — Adam Chetter holds an enhanced DBS check, renewed regularly to maintain full compliance with UK safeguarding expectations. We understand how important trust and transparency are within school environments. Before filming, we provide DBS details upon request so your safeguarding lead has complete confidence in who is entering the site. Schools consistently tell us this level of clarity helps them feel fully protected.

Do you require our safeguarding policies before filming?

Yes — reviewing your safeguarding and visitor policies ensures our filming plan aligns perfectly with your procedures. Every school has its own protocols, and we adapt our workflow to match them precisely. This includes checking visitor rules, restricted zones, student permissions, and on-site protocols. By understanding your expectations in advance, we can guarantee a smooth, compliant filming day.

How do you ensure children are filmed safely and respectfully?

We take a child-first approach, filming only in appropriate locations and always with staff supervision present. Our crew works with care, patience and sensitivity, ensuring students feel relaxed, respected and never pressured. We avoid intrusive angles and always maintain personal boundaries when filming in classrooms or busy spaces. Safeguarding guides every decision we make during production.

How do you handle students who cannot be filmed?

We work closely with your safeguarding lead to identify any students who must not appear on camera. These students are carefully excluded from filming areas, or we adjust our framing to ensure they remain out of shot. Our team is trained to handle these situations discreetly and respectfully so no child feels singled out. Managing restricted lists is a routine part of our process.

Can you work with restricted filming lists?

Absolutely — restricted filming lists are standard practice in schools, and we integrate them directly into our scheduling and filming route. We use clear, pre-agreed indicators to ensure no errors occur during classroom or outdoor filming. The lists remain confidential and are treated with strict data sensitivity. Our priority is always protecting children who must not be included.

Do you avoid identifying vulnerable students?

Yes — we take great care not to film or highlight vulnerable students, even in group settings. If a student must not be identifiable, we adjust angles, depth of field, or positioning to maintain privacy without drawing attention. Safeguarding and dignity are always prioritised over aesthetics or convenience. You can trust that our decisions always lean towards student protection.

How do you manage consent forms?

We support schools with guidance on best-practice consent processes and can provide templates if needed. However, consent management always remains with the school, as you hold the relationship with parents. Clear permissions ensure we only capture footage that is safe, compliant and ethically sound. Good consent procedures protect everyone — the school, the students and the final film.

Do you blur faces if permissions change later?

Yes — if a child’s consent is withdrawn after filming, we can blur or remove them from the final edit. Our editing tools allow us to mask individuals without compromising the quality of the wider scene. This flexibility gives schools peace of mind that they can adapt to changes in permissions. Protecting student identity is always more important than keeping a specific shot.

Are parent consents required for interviews?

Yes — if a student is speaking directly to camera or being interviewed, parental consent is essential. We work closely with you to ensure all necessary permissions are in place before filming begins. Clear communication prevents delays and ensures the final content is safe to publish. This protects both your school’s reputation and the wellbeing of the student involved.

Can you film safely in SEND settings?

Absolutely — we have extensive experience filming in SEND, SEMH and specialist environments. We take a calm, adaptable approach that respects each student’s needs and sensory sensitivities. Our crew adjusts lighting, equipment placement, and interaction style to ensure comfort and safety. SEND settings require heightened awareness — and this is something we take extremely seriously.

What steps do you take to protect student privacy online?

We never include full names, personal details, or identifiable documentation in footage. Our editing emphasises safe angles, appropriate context and content that reflects your school professionally without compromising privacy. We also provide guidance on how to publish videos safely on websites and social platforms. Protecting children online is a shared responsibility, and we support schools every step of the way.

How do you store and handle footage securely?

All raw footage is stored on encrypted, secure drives and handled under strict data-protection practices. We never share footage externally without your permission, and all files are transferred via secure download links. Footage is deleted after project completion unless otherwise agreed for future content creation. These protocols ensure full compliance with GDPR and school safeguarding expectations.

The recording process ran very smoothly in school and I was very impressed with how much we managed to fit into a day! I appreciated the suggestions that Adam made so that we could capture some great parts of our school day; his expertise and eye for detail were invaluable.

EDITING & POST-PRODUCTION

How long does editing take?

Most school video projects are edited within 2–3 weeks, depending on the scope and number of deliverables. This timeframe allows us to craft a polished, emotionally engaging narrative that aligns with your school’s values and goals. We balance speed with quality, ensuring every frame, audio track and transition is intentional. Faster turnaround options are available for urgent admissions or recruitment campaigns.

Do we get to review the first draft?

Yes — every project includes a full review stage where you can watch the first draft and provide detailed feedback. This draft gives you a clear sense of the pacing, messaging and overall feel of the film. We encourage honest input to ensure the video aligns perfectly with your school’s identity. Collaboration at this stage strengthens the final result and enhances your confidence in the project.

How many rounds of revisions are included?

We include structured revision rounds so you can refine the film without worrying about unexpected costs. These rounds typically address pacing, shot selection, messaging emphasis and any minor adjustments you’d like made. Our goal is to deliver a final video that you feel proud to share with families and staff. Clear revision processes ensure projects stay on time and on budget.

Can you add captions or subtitles?

Yes — captions and subtitles can be included as an additional cost. Accessibility is essential for modern school communications. Captions make your video more inclusive and also improve engagement on social media platforms where sound is often muted. This small addition significantly boosts reach and ensures your message is understood by all audiences. Accessible content reflects a school’s commitment to inclusion.

Can you provide social media versions?

Absolutely — we create platform-specific edits optimised for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube. These shorter versions help schools maximise visibility and maintain consistent storytelling across all channels. Vertical and square formats are included so your content performs well on mobile devices. This multi-platform approach increases reach and supports ongoing school marketing.

Can you add our school logo and branding?

Yes — we incorporate your colours, fonts, logo and overall brand identity to ensure your video blends seamlessly with your website and printed materials. Consistent branding strengthens recognition and helps families form a cohesive impression of your school. We always follow your existing guidelines while elevating the visual impact through professional design. The result is a film that feels authentically yours.

Do you include music licensed for school use?

Yes — all music used in our films is fully licensed, copyright-safe and legally approved for public sharing. We carefully select soundtracks that complement your school’s atmosphere and support the emotional tone of the narrative. Music plays a crucial role in shaping the viewer’s experience, so we choose tracks that feel uplifting, warm and engaging. You never need to worry about copyright claims or restrictions.

Can we request changes to the soundtrack or pacing?

Yes — if you feel the music or pacing could be improved, we can adjust these elements during revisions. Small refinements can make a significant difference to how the story flows and how families emotionally connect with it. We want the final film to feel exactly right for your school. Your feedback is always welcomed and acted upon promptly.

Can you remove or swap shots after filming is finished?

In most cases, yes — we can replace, reorder or remove footage during editing as long as alternative shots were captured on the day. This flexibility allows us to refine story emphasis, remove unwanted details or shift the focus to different subjects. We approach filming with variety in mind so there’s always enough material for adjustments. This adaptability is one of the benefits of professional production.

Do you colour-grade the footage?

Yes — every film undergoes professional colour-grading to ensure consistent tones, balanced lighting and a cinematic finish. Colour-grading enhances clarity, warmth and depth, which is especially important in classrooms and indoor spaces where lighting varies. This step is part of what makes your film look polished, purposeful and visually unified. It’s a hallmark of high-quality video production.

Can you add animations, graphics or text overlays?

Absolutely — we can include subtle motion graphics, value statements, subject labels or key messages to support your narrative. These visual cues help guide viewers and reinforce the information you want families to remember. Graphics can also modernise the film’s look, making it more dynamic and engaging. We always keep design clean, professional and on-brand.

What if we need a version for open days or events?

We can create tailored cuts designed specifically for presentations, open evenings or foyer screens. These versions often include slightly longer scenes, slower pacing and messaging suited for in-person viewing. Having both online and event-friendly versions ensures your content performs well in every context. This flexibility maximises the value of your investment.

How do you deliver the final video?

We provide secure, high-quality download links in multiple formats suitable for websites, social media and large screens. Files are optimised for fast loading to ensure strong performance on your website, even on mobile devices. Schools appreciate the simplicity and reliability of our delivery system. We also keep the final exports available for backup if you ever need them again.

Will the video be suitable for our website and social platforms?

Yes — every final deliverable is provided in the ideal resolution and format for each platform, ensuring maximum clarity and performance. We optimise video length, aspect ratio and file size to align with best practices for online viewing. This improves engagement, watch-time and overall impact. Your video will look professional no matter where it’s shared.

We have found working with Northern Education Videos a very easy and supportive process. The company has great experience of working with schools, and have the patience and skills to ensure the school receives their desired outcome.

VIDEO SUBJECTS & THEMES

What types of video do you recommend for primary schools?

Primary schools benefit from warm, story-led videos that capture curiosity, joy and active learning. We focus on classroom energy, outdoor play, early writing and reading, and genuine interactions between pupils and staff. Parents choosing a primary school want to feel the nurturing atmosphere, not just hear about it. Videos that highlight care, creativity and community always perform best at this age group.

What types of video work best for secondary schools?

Secondary schools often need videos that balance academic ambition with pastoral support and wider opportunity. This includes showcasing strong subject departments, extracurricular activities, sports, arts, leadership pathways and enrichment. Parents and students want evidence of both high expectations and a supportive environment where young people grow confidently. A well-crafted secondary film communicates both challenge and care in equal measure.

Do you create SEND-specific films?

Yes — we specialise in producing sensitive, respectful and carefully planned videos for SEND, SEMH and specialist school settings. These films highlight the school’s therapeutic support, tailored teaching approaches and nurturing environment without overwhelming students. We adapt our filming style to match sensory needs and consult closely with staff to ensure every scene is appropriate. SEND videos require expertise, empathy and precision — and we bring all three.

Can you make staff recruitment videos?

Absolutely. Recruitment films allow schools to showcase their culture, professional development opportunities, leadership style and what makes them a rewarding place to work. These videos attract candidates who are aligned with your values and reduce the time needed to fill key roles. High-quality recruitment content is increasingly essential in the current education landscape.

Do you produce virtual tours or campus walkthroughs?

Yes — virtual tours are a powerful way to help families explore your site remotely and gain a sense of scale, facilities and atmosphere. These can include drone footage, guided walkthroughs or short location-based segments. Virtual tours are especially useful for MATs, international families, and parents who can’t attend weekday visits. A modern, polished tour significantly enhances your website’s admissions experience.

Can you film interviews with leadership teams?

Yes — leadership interviews are an excellent way to express your school’s ethos, vision and priorities with clarity and credibility. We guide headteachers and senior staff with supportive prompts that help them speak confidently and authentically. These interviews build trust because families want to understand the leadership style behind the school. A strong leadership voice can dramatically strengthen your film’s emotional impact.

Can we focus the film on our values or ethos?

Absolutely — many schools build their entire video around their core values, weaving them naturally throughout the narrative. We avoid cliché statements and instead show the values in action through real lessons, interactions and moments. When values are demonstrated visually, families connect with them more deeply and remember them more clearly. This approach creates a film that feels genuinely aligned with your identity.

Can you produce short subject-focused videos (e.g., STEM, arts)?

Yes — subject spotlights are a powerful way to highlight academic strengths, passionate teachers and real student engagement. These short films bring departments to life, showcasing experiments, performances, creative work and hands-on learning. They are ideal for open days, website subject pages and social media campaigns. High-quality subject content shows parents what learning actually looks and feels like at your school.

Do you create videos for social media campaigns?

Absolutely — we produce short, fast-paced edits optimised for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube Shorts. These videos use vertical formats, quick transitions and strong messaging to maximise engagement. They’re perfect for admissions pushes, event promotions, trust updates and brand-building. Schools using regular social content see significantly stronger online visibility.

Can we create a series of shorter videos instead of one long film?

Yes — in many cases, a series of short, focused clips is more effective than one long video. This approach works brilliantly for website sections, social campaigns and ongoing parent communications. It allows you to tell your story in digestible chapters that highlight different strengths. Multi-video packages offer exceptional value because they extend your content strategy throughout the year.

Can you help promote our school story?

That’s one of our core strengths. We help schools uncover the themes, values and unique qualities that make them stand out, then translate that into a compelling, emotive narrative. A strong school story builds connection, trust and long-term brand consistency. Families make decisions based on emotion — and a well-crafted story speaks directly to that.

Do you create videos for MATs and Trust-wide messaging?

Yes — we work closely with MATs to produce cohesive trust-wide content that strengthens identity, culture and strategic messaging across all schools. This can include trust introduction films, leadership vision pieces, cross-school collaboration videos and branded templates for ongoing use. We ensure consistency in tone, visuals and messaging while still respecting each individual school’s character. Strong trust-wide content enhances recruitment, engagement and stakeholder confidence.

It was a really stress free day and it was lovely to get the chance to show case the things we do in school. It is amazing when you look at it just how much we do!

Staff were really impressed, and we have had a lot of feedback from parents; they say it really shows how much we do. The colours are so bright and make school look like a happy, fun place to be.
We have also had a few phone calls about nursery places in September because of the video.

PRICING, PACKAGES & DELIVERABLES

How much does a school video cost?

School video pricing varies depending on the length, complexity, number of filming days and the volume of deliverables required. Most schools invest between £600–£2500, which covers planning, filming, editing, captions, licensed music and multiple final formats. We provide clear, transparent quotes so you always know exactly what you’re paying for. Whether you need a single promotional film or a multi-video series, we tailor the investment to your goals.

Do you offer package options?

Yes — we offer structured packages designed specifically for schools, MATs and SEND settings. Packages provide excellent value by combining a main promotional film with shorter social edits, subject features or leadership interviews. This ensures you receive a complete suite of content that supports admissions, recruitment and ongoing communication. Packages also help schools plan long-term, ensuring brand consistency across all videos.

What’s included in the price?

Every project includes planning, on-site filming, professional editing, colour-grading, captions, licensed music and branded graphics. We handle the entire process from concept to delivery so your team can stay focused on school priorities. There are no hidden costs — everything needed for a polished, professional film is included as standard. This transparency is one of the reasons schools trust us.

Are travel costs included?

Travel costs are included for local schools and clearly itemised for schools further afield. We always provide travel information upfront so you have full clarity before any commitment. This straightforward approach ensures budgets remain accurate and predictable. Schools appreciate the honesty and simplicity of our pricing structure.

Do you offer discounts for multiple videos or MATs?

Yes — multi-video and multi-school projects benefit from reduced rates because filming can be planned strategically and efficiently across sites. MATs often secure the best value by commissioning trust-wide packages, including individual school films and shared brand assets. This approach builds consistency across the trust while significantly lowering the cost per film. It’s one of the most cost-effective ways to elevate communications at scale.

Can we add more editing time or filming days?

Absolutely — additional editing or extra filming days can be added if you want a larger or more in-depth project. Some schools choose to extend their package to include more interviews, subject features or social clips. Extra filming time increases flexibility and allows for more comprehensive storytelling. We’re always happy to scale the project to match your ambitions.

Is music licensing included?

Yes — all music used in your video is licensed for online and public use, meaning you don’t need to worry about copyright claims or restrictions. We carefully select tracks that complement your school’s tone and support the emotional impact of the narrative. Licensed music ensures your film remains safe to publish across websites, social platforms and events. It’s included as part of our standard post-production service.

Do you charge extra for drone footage?

Drone filming is included in all packages. Aerial shots provide stunning school views and can dramatically enhance the visual impact of your film. When conditions allow, drone footage is an excellent way to elevate your school’s story and showcase your site’s scale. We’ll always confirm feasibility and costs upfront.

Are subtitled versions included?

Yes they can be for an additional fee. Subtitles ensure your content is understood by all viewers and also improve performance on social platforms where videos autoplay without sound. Including captions boosts engagement, reach and inclusivity. We provide multiple versions optimised for different formats.

Do you offer annual content plans for schools?

Yes — many schools and MATs choose an annual content plan to ensure consistent, high-quality video throughout the year. These plans can include seasonal filming days, event coverage, social content, subject features and leadership updates. Annual partnerships offer the best value and help schools maintain a strong, modern online presence. It’s a strategic way to future-proof your communications.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept BACs. This flexibility makes it easy for finance departments to process payments within their standard approval systems. Clear invoicing ensures transparency and aligns with typical school financial procedures. We keep everything simple so you can focus on the creative outcome.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for our fabulous Christmas film. It is relaxed and orgasnic and totally captures the spirit or the school. I love the fact it is all about the children. I can’t wait to share it with the parent. Thanks again and we will definitely keep you in mind for future events and recommend you to other schools.

ADVICE FOR SCHOOLS

How can we get the most out of our filming day?

Preparation is the key to a smooth and productive filming day. Simple steps — such as sharing the schedule with staff, preparing locations in advance and identifying key contributors — make a huge difference to efficiency. The more ready the school is, the more high-quality footage we can capture in the time available. Schools that follow our preparation guide consistently achieve the strongest, most dynamic results.

What should staff say on camera?

We encourage staff to speak naturally and focus on clear, authentic messages that reflect your school’s ethos. Instead of memorising scripts, we give staff supportive talking points that help them communicate confidently and meaningfully. Viewers connect more strongly when voices sound real, warm and unscripted. This authenticity significantly improves the emotional impact of your school video.

How can we help students feel relaxed during filming?

A calm introduction and clear explanation of what will happen usually puts students at ease. We maintain a friendly, low-pressure environment and never force participation — comfort always comes first. Teachers can help by choosing students who are confident and happy to be involved. When students feel relaxed, the footage is naturally more joyful, expressive and genuine.

What locations work best on school grounds?

Bright classrooms, active learning spaces, creative environments and outdoor areas all work brilliantly on camera. We look for locations that represent everyday school life but also offer visual interest, natural light and open space for movement. Even simple areas can become visually engaging with the right angles and activity. The right location enhances storytelling and strengthens your school’s identity on screen.

How do we choose the right students to feature?

Select students who are enthusiastic, confident and comfortable speaking or being filmed. It’s also important to ensure representation across year groups, abilities and backgrounds to reflect the diversity of your school community. Your safeguarding lead should also verify that all chosen students have the correct permissions. The right mix of students helps strengthen trust and relatability for prospective families.

What mistakes do schools often make when planning videos?

The most common mistakes include over-scripting, rushing preparation, or trying to cover too many messages in one film. A clearer, more focused narrative always leads to a stronger final product. Another frequent oversight is not allocating time for authentic classroom activity, which is often the footage parents value most. With the right planning, these pitfalls are easy to avoid.

Is it better to script or speak naturally?

Natural speaking almost always works better because it feels genuine, warm and relatable — especially to prospective parents. Scripts can sound stiff and rehearsed, which reduces emotional impact. Instead, we guide speakers with key themes and questions to help them express themselves confidently. Authentic delivery is one of the strongest trust builders in school videos.

Should we tidy classrooms before filming?

A tidy, organised classroom always looks better on camera, but it doesn’t need to look perfect or unrealistic. A quick refresh — such as clearing cluttered tables or rearranging large items — helps the space feel more visually appealing. We still want classrooms to look lived-in and reflective of real learning. It’s about striking the right balance between authenticity and clarity.

What makes a school video engaging for prospective parents?

Parents respond most to emotional clarity, real student voices and genuine glimpses into everyday school life. Strong visuals, confident messaging and a warm narrative all contribute to a film that feels credible and compelling. A great school video creates trust by showing rather than telling. It should answer the unspoken question: “Will my child thrive here?”

How long should a school promotional film be?

The ideal length for a main promotional film is 2–3 minutes, as this keeps viewers engaged while delivering a clear message. Shorter supporting clips (30–60 seconds) work well for social media and admissions campaigns. Longer edits can be produced for events or open days where audiences are more attentive. The format should always match the viewing context.

Should we include exam results or statistics?

Statistics can be useful, but they should never overshadow your school’s personality, culture and student experiences. Numbers change annually, but your ethos, values and community identity remain consistent — and parents value that stability. If statistics are included, they should support rather than dominate the narrative. Emotional connection almost always has a stronger impact than data alone.

How can we use video to support admissions?

A well-produced video helps families form an instant emotional connection with your school before they ever visit. It showcases your strengths, communicates your ethos clearly and gives prospective parents confidence in their decision-making. Schools often use these films on websites, open evenings, social media and digital campaigns to widen their reach. Strong video content consistently boosts engagement in admissions communications.
